Water Testing Disclaimer
Understand what an initial on-site water check can and cannot tell you. Updated September 24, 2026.
Initial checks are screening tools
An on-site visit may screen for hardness, pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), chlorine and selected well-water conditions based on your source and concerns. The exact checks performed depend on the property, equipment and scope discussed with you. Results may guide treatment recommendations but do not identify every substance in water.
What the readings do not prove
TDS and pH alone do not determine whether water is safe to drink. Taste, odor, clarity and the absence of staining also do not prove safety. A basic check is not a test for bacteria, lead, arsenic, PFAS or every other potential contaminant.
When laboratory testing matters
If you suspect a specific contaminant, have a private well, notice a sudden change, or have health-related concerns, ask about testing by an appropriate certified laboratory and consult your local health department. Well owners should follow current public-health guidance for periodic testing. Treatment equipment should be selected only after the relevant water conditions are understood.
System performance
Performance varies with incoming water quality, proper sizing, installation, use and maintenance. Any specific reduction claim should be supported by the product documentation and testing applicable to that equipment. A proposal will explain the recommended configuration and applicable warranty terms.
